Back on My Feet Expands to Denver with 13th Chapter
Denver, CO (November 15, 2018) – Back on My Feet, the national nonprofit that seeks to revolutionize the way society approaches homelessness, will open its doors to the newest chapter in Denver, CO, in 2019. The announcement comes during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (November 11-19, 2018) and will further spread Back on My Feet’s mission to combat homelessness in Denver through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources.
Back on My Feet’s newest chapter aims to help Denver’s homeless community, which has grown to more than 5,000 individuals, the city’s highest homeless population in a decade. Expanding to Denver will continue a growth phase for Back on My Feet and part of the organization’s strategic plan to expand to multiple more cities in the next five years.
“Back on My Feet is eager to continue to expand our mission and help support individuals experiencing homelessness across the US,” said Katy Sherratt, Back on My Feet’s CEO. “Denver is a natural choice for our program. A combination of an active and abundant running community in Denver and key corporate and individual donor support will help ensure the success of our 13th chapter. We are eager to join the Denver community in helping to tackle one of the city’s most pressing social challenges.”
Through the help of more than 150,000 volunteers, donors and community supporters nationwide, the organization’s unique, running-based, restorative model demonstrates that if you first build confidence, strength and self-esteem, individuals are better equipped to tackle the road ahead and move toward jobs, homes and new lives. In an economic impact study commissioned by Back on My Feet and validated by an external consulting group, for every $1 invested in the organization, there is a $2.50 return to the local community. This monetary return is achieved through increased economic output from employment and reduction in costs for shelter, medical services, incarceration and addiction treatment.
Back on My Feet is currently seeking seed funding to support the launch, individuals to join the local Board and corporate involvement in the launch of our 13th chapter. Please email denver@backonmyfeet.org to learn more and get involved.
