Press Release: BoMF Utilizes OpenReel™ to Raise Over $200,000

Back on My Feet's partnership with OpenReel™ helped the organization raise over $200,000 funds during Covid-19.

March 29, 2021 (Philadelphia) – Back on My Feet is excited to share that they were able to raise over $200,000 during fundraising events in 2020 utilizing the OpenReel video recording platform. Back on My Feet is a national non-profit that combats homelessness through the power of fitness, community support and essential employment and housing resources. In 14 cities across the US, Back on My Feet has helped over 7,500 men and women break down barriers using fitness as a tool to create and build communities that provide the support, and resources that empower individuals experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable employment and stable housing.

COVID-19 forced Back on My Feet to cancel more than twenty in person events over the past year, substantially impacting fundraising and community building efforts. OpenReel’s platform has enabled the Back on My Feet staff to capture high quality video of program member interviews, staff, and community members – highlighting the work that Back on My Feet is doing around the country. This video content has been used in a number of different virtual events, helping to raise over $200,000 – money that is going to directly support the Back on My Feet program.

OpenReel’s platform has been extremely helpful to us this year,” said Erin Mullikin, Director of Visual Design & User Experience. “We were challenged with how to capture high quality digital content from a-far and turn it into a compelling virtual storytelling event. Without the video we captured using OpenReel, we wouldn’t have been able to ultimately reach our fundraising goals.”

“Back on My Feet is doing critically important work for communities, and OpenReel couldn’t be more proud to help support those efforts,” said Lee Firestone, CEO of OpenReel. “Video is a powerful tool that can communicate stories and emotions. Back on My Feet has been able to quickly and efficiently leverage video in an impactful, life-changing way. It’s incredible to see our technology used to empower this organization and make a difference for people and their families.”

Since its founding, Back on My Feet has helped more than 7,500 individuals secure jobs and homes with the help of more than 150,000 volunteers and supporters. To learn more about the transformative work that Back on My Feet is doing, visit backonmyfeet.org.
