City Fitness to Help Back on My Feet Philadelphia Raise $50k to Fight Homelessness in Philly With Treadmill Challenge
Local health club will provide 10 treadmills for 8-hour fundraising event at The Shops at Liberty Place on June 6

Philadelphia, PA – May 23, 2018– Back on My Feet, a national nonprofit organization operating in 12 major cities coast to coast will hold its third annual Cigna Back on My Feet Treadmill Challenge on Wednesday, June 6th (Global Running Day) at The Shops at Liberty Place. The Cigna Foundation provides grant funding to support the programs of Back on My Feet and the Cigna Corporation generously provides sponsorship funding for the annual Treadmill Challenge. Over the course of eight hours, ten fundraising teams will run on treadmills to raise funds for the Back on My Feet program. This year, City Fitness joins Back on My Feet as their official Treadmill Challenge partner.

Back on My Feet combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. Nationally, Back on My Feet has helped more than 5,500 individuals experiencing homelessness gain housing and/or employment. Back on My Feet’s economic impact study found that for every $1 invested in the organization, nearly $2.50 is returned to the community.

“At City Fitness, we think an active lifestyle and a commitment to putting in hard work can influence a broader improvement in someone’s overall wellbeing,” said Tom Wingert, Vice President of Marketing for City Fitness. “Philadelphians coming together to raise money and awareness by actively participating in a healthy lifestyle act – running – is the perfect alignment between City Fitness’ company values and the mission of Back on My Feet.”

Ten treadmills will be set up in The Shops at Liberty Place rotunda, where more than 100 individuals from eight corporate fundraising teams will join together to run, compete and raise funds for Back on My Feet. The goal of the Treadmill Challenge is to raise more than $50,000 for the Philadelphia program.

“The Back on My Feet program is built upon the transformative power of community and fitness,” said Cathryn Sanderson, Executive Director of Back on My Feet Philadelphia. “For that reason, we are so pleased to welcome City Fitness, a company committed to wellness, community and transformation, as a partner for this event.”

Other partners joining Back on My Feet for the 2018 Treadmill Challenge will include Precor, AACR Philadelphia Marathon, Temple University, Baker Tilly, MSC Retail, Saxbys Coffee, KPMG, Endless Pools and The Shops at Liberty Place.
