As the fall racing season heats up the cool mornings throughout the tri-state area, Back on My Feet members are preparing for the Philadelphia Marathon, Half-marathon and 8k races. These races take place on November 23 rd and are a fixture of the Philadelphia running scene. Last year Back on My Feet had 10 members participating in the various races, this year we plan on having more than 30 members competing in the three distances.
In the marathon, Gideon Haile’Selassie is logging high mileage along with his Team Back on My Feet-Our Brother’s Place team members in preparation.
“I’m excited and really looking forward to the race,” said Gideon.
Just a few weeks ago, Gideon (a Back on My Feet member since April of 2008) set a personal best time at the Baltimore Half-Marathon of 1 hour and 38 minutes on the challenging course.
While Gideon is the only BOMF member entering the marathon, many other members are looking towards the Half-marathon and 8k. James Singletary of Team Back on My Feet-New Jerusalem is eager to test the waters of the Half-Marathon.
“Let’s do it!” Said an enthusiastic Singletary just a few days ago after completing a weekday run of 6 miles. “I’ve lowered my mile time and I can definitely feel that I’m in better shape.”
Come out and support Team Back on My Feet as we take to the Philadelphia streets on November 23 rd to tackle our next racing challenge!
