Chairman of the Board Larry Solomon

Updated: January 30, 2012

Larry Solomon, COO for Accenture's Human Resources, was appointed as Chairman of the Board for Back on My Feet on Dec. 9th, 2009. Solomon replaces former Chairman Jonathan Shur.

Larry joined Accenture in New York in 1986 after receiving his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Albany. He worked in the consulting practice for about three years and then transferred into practice management where he helped create and run the Northeast Strategy practice and served as the Director of Administration for about three years.

Larry moved to the Philadelphia area in 1991 and assumed responsibility for the practice management functions of the Pennsylvania Metro consulting office.

During the 1990s Larry held a number of leadership positions in HR, including HR Director for the Americas Government and Health Services business, Americas HR Lead, and HR Director for Global Geographic Services. He was promoted to partner in September 2000, and became the Managing Director for Global Geographic Services in 2004. He has occupied his current COO role since September of 2008.

Outside of work, Larry and his family enjoy the New Jersey shore, weekend stays in New York City, dining out and spending time with family. Larry also has an interest in sports memorabilia and has become a running fanatic and has completed several half marathons and one full marathon in May 2009.

He runs about 25-35 miles per week (sometimes with his white german shepherd dog) and has grown fond of the hip-hop music his two daughters have loaded on his Ipod to keep him going. Larry is married (Barrie) and as mentioned above has two daughters, Shira and Elana. He and his family reside in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Larry became interested in BoMF after reading the Runner's World article [PDF] in early 2009. He joined the Board in February 2009 and began running occasionally with the team at Our Brother's Place.

Since then, his passion and energy has helped take BoMF to a new level, and he was recently awarded the Board Member of the Year by Anne Mahlum, a recognition he will cherish for quite a while.

“I never thought I would get as jazzed and involved with any organization as I am with BoMF,” says Larry. “The combination of the cause, the members, the Board, the staff, and just the whole concept really resonate with me and inspire me to give it my all. And to top it off, it’s a lot of fun and very rewarding to everyone involved.”
